Slims Restaurant Nairobi, which first opened in 2006, has now closed permanently.
Located on Lenana Road, Slims in its heyday used to be quite the spot for the up-and-coming, young, well-heeled of Nairobi.
There, you were sure to find good food, great music, good cocktails and a buzzing atmosphere.
I spent many an enjoyable night at Slims during its run on the Nairobi social scene.
I wrote this post in the first year of Slims’s existence. Enjoy the trip down memory lane!

Recently, on a Tuesday, I was leaving the gym when a friend offered to buy me dinner at Slims Restaurant.
Not one to resist such an offer, and always on the lookout for new things to do in Nairobi, I happily accepted her invitation.
My friend is a regular at Slims Restaurant. She loves the ambiance and thinks they make the best Margaritas in town.
I don’t agree with her. Still, their cocktails are very good and more pocket friendly than most in Nairobi.

Tropical Gardens Ruiru
Tropical Gardens, located in Ruiru near Thika Road’s exit 13, are waterside gardens that can be rented for outdoor events such as weddings, picnics, graduations, and photo & video shoots.

The entry fee for regular picnics is Ksh. 350/- per adult. There is no bar or restaurant at Tropical Gardens, so you must bring your own as well as let’s say a blanket to sit on.

Ate Restaurant Nairobi
Ate Restaurant is a relatively new, high-end restaurant in Kyuna, Nairobi.
Judging from the reviews on Tripadvisor, eating at Ate is a mixed bag.
On one hand, some customers of the establishment say it has great food and good ambiance.
Quite a few customers, on the other hand, complain about bad service and especially of bad treatment from the owner/manager.
Judging from the owner’s response to those customer reviews, there just might be some truth to it.
