Uber launched in Kampala, Uganda and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania within 10 days of each other in June 2016. Since I don’t own a car, and live between these two cities, I was ecstatic to learn about this new development. Although I love to travel by boda-boda (motorcycle taxis), I cannot completely ignore the number of injuries and fatalities that occur every day as a result of boda-boda accidents. An inexpensive, convenient, GPS-enabled service provided through a mobile app seemed like just the thing to finally get me to transition to a non-boda-boda lifestyle. Finding out That Uber Had Arrived to an East African City Other Than Nairobi … Continue reading Uber Uganda & Tanzania: My Experiences in the First 9 Months

This post, on the other hand, despite its dealing with the same subject, banking, is about how happy I am with one of my current banks: Equity Bank. The experiences I mention in this post specifically have to do with Equity Bank Tanzania, Equity Bank Uganda, … Continue reading An Ode to Equity Bank
I had never used Uber until I wrote this post about Uber launching in Dar es Salaam. Since then, it has been a Godsend! With its attractive rates, and the fact that you can call for transportation at any time without necessarily knowing a specific taxi driver, or its great mapping tool which allows you to call for a ride even when you are not too sure how to describe where you are, I know I will be using Uber again and again. With the holiday season — and its many parties — upon us, call or schedule an Uber to drive you … Continue reading Uber, the Holiday Season, and Dynamic Pricing
The second half of this year has seen me doing my share of travelling. First it was to Northern Tanzania, then Uganda, Rwanda, and now back to Uganda again. My Instagram gallery has been mirroring a similar route, though also including destinations such as Nairobi and Mikumi National Park. I’ve had lots of fun sharing these pics with my followers on Instagram, and since I know that many of you, who read this blog, are not active Instagram users, I thought I’d share the best of those pictures with you here. I hope you like them. Please be sure to let … Continue reading 21 Rwanda Instagram Photos & Lots More!
