Nairobi Cinema Ticket Prices: Junction Cinema Nairobi
When people in Nairobi talk about Junction Cinema, they are referring to Century Cinemax Junction, the cinema located inside The Junction Mall on Ngong Road.
It is one of the better-known movie theatres in Nairobi and forms part of the Century Cinemax cinema chain, which also operates locations at Garden City, Sarit and Two Rivers.
The cinema is located at The Junction Mall, along Ngong Road, in an area that is convenient for people living around Kilimani, Lavington, Hurlingham, Kileleshwa, Dagoretti and surrounding parts of Nairobi. The mall itself is at the junction of several important roads, including Ngong Road and Kingara Road, which is one reason the cinema is commonly referred to simply as “Junction Cinema.”
A cinema inside a shopping mall
One of the main advantages of Junction Cinema is that it is part of a much larger shopping and entertainment destination. Rather than travelling specifically to a standalone theatre, you can combine a movie with shopping, eating, meeting friends or simply spending an afternoon at The Junction Mall.
The mall currently has more than 115 stores, along with restaurants and other businesses, so going to the cinema can easily become part of a larger outing.
The cinema is therefore particularly convenient for people who want to make an evening or weekend of their visit rather than simply watch a film and leave.
The cinema itself is positioned within the mall and has traditionally been one of the mall’s major entertainment attractions.
Screens and seating at Junction Movie Theater
Junction Cinema currently advertises six screens and approximately 1,200 seats. It also promotes a substantial selection of concessions, listing around 50 snack options, while the cinema schedule provides numerous screenings throughout the week.
This makes it considerably more than a small neighbourhood movie theatre. The multiple screens allow Century Cinemax to show several films at the same time, including major Hollywood releases, animated films and other popular titles.
The cinema also offers different viewing formats depending on the movie. Regular 2D screenings are available, while selected films are shown in 3D and Atmos formats.
It is worth checking the individual movie listing before booking because the available format can affect both the experience and the ticket price.
One important distinction is that Junction is not the Century Cinemax location with the IMAX screen.
The company’s IMAX facility in Nairobi is at Garden City Mall on Thika Road. Century Cinemax identifies Junction, Sarit and Two Rivers as its other Nairobi locations, while Garden City is its IMAX site.

Junction Cinema generally carries a mixture of current blockbuster releases and family-oriented movies.
Its current listings include films such as Toy Story 5, Minions & Monsters, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, The Odyssey, Motor City and Moana, although the programme naturally changes as films leave theatres and new releases arrive.
That makes it a useful option whether you are looking for an action movie, a major Hollywood release, animation for children or something suitable for a family outing.
