Restaurant Near Airport
There aren’t any well-known reputable restaurants near Dar es Salaam airport.
For that reason, if you want a convenient and reliable place to eat without traveling far from your flight, it is worth considering the restaurants and cafés inside the airport itself.
Restaurant Near Airport #1: The Flying Pan Restaurant Departure Terminal 3 – Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA)
One of the most convenient options is The Flying Pan Restaurant Departure Terminal 3 – Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA). It is located directly in Terminal 3, making it especially useful if you are catching a flight and do not want to risk traveling far from the airport. The restaurant serves a broad selection including burgers, sandwiches, wraps, pasta, seafood, vegetarian dishes, desserts, coffee and tea, as well as local Tanzanian food. It is also currently listed as operating around the clock, although it is sensible to confirm hours if you are traveling at an unusual time.
Restaurants Near Airport #2: BAO Cafe JNIA T2
Another airport option is BAO Cafe JNIA T2 in Terminal 2.
For something lighter, The coffee house at Terminal 3 is another possibility, particularly if you mainly want coffee or a quick snack.
What To Do Near Murtala Muhammed International Airport With Restaurant
If you have a layover or some free time around Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, you have several options depending on how much time you have. The airport is in Ikeja, so the easiest things to do are concentrated around the airport and Ikeja rather than farther-away Lagos attractions.
For a meal without going far
There are several restaurants either inside the airport or immediately around the airport area.
Places To Visit Near Murtala Muhammed International Airport With Restaurant #1: De Bull Restaurant & Bar
De Bull Restaurant & Bar is particularly convenient because it is located in the Quits Aviation Free Trade Zone at Murtala Muhammed International Airport. It focuses on steakhouse and African-style food and is a reasonable choice if you want a proper sit-down meal rather than fast food.
Places To Visit Near Murtala Muhammed International Airport With Dining #2: Abibiz Restaurant
Abibiz Restaurant is on the second floor of the departure terminal and offers an easy option if you don’t want to leave the airport.
- My Noodles Cafe (Indomie Cafe) – Murtala Muhammed International Airport is another airport option, particularly if you want something quick and casual.
- KFC Mma International Airport is on International Airport Road and is convenient for familiar fast food.
- Bluelodge Hotel and Restaurant is opposite the NCAA headquarters on Airport Road, making it another nearby option.
The wider Ikeja area gives you considerably more choice.
Restaurants listed near the airport include Wakame, Lolar Shon’s Gourmet, The Yellow Chilli, De Bull and Gabfol Lounge.
Wakame, in particular, is known for Chinese and Japanese food and is listed about 1.6 miles from the airport.
If You Have a Few Hours
If you have roughly 3–5 hours, I’d stay around Ikeja rather than attempting to cross Lagos. Traffic can make apparently short journeys take much longer than expected.
You could have lunch or dinner at a restaurant in Ikeja and then visit a nearby attraction such as Jhalobia Landscaping Company and Botanical Garden in Lagos,Nigeria on Airport Road. It’s particularly convenient if you want somewhere green and relatively close to the airport.
Another possibility is Providha Fun city in Ikeja, an amusement park that can work if you’re travelling with family or simply want something more recreational.
For a more relaxed outdoor stop, Johnson Jakande Tinubu (JJT) Park in Alausa, Ikeja is another option. It is farther from the airport than the restaurants immediately around MMIA, so I’d consider it only if your layover gives you plenty of time.
If you have most of a day
With 6–10 hours or more, you can venture farther into Lagos. Places such as Freedom Park Lagos offer a very different experience, with historical and cultural interest in central Lagos.
You could combine sightseeing with a restaurant meal, but I would leave a generous buffer for the return journey to the airport. Lagos traffic is the main reason not to plan a tightly timed airport excursion.
I would not recommend going all the way to Lekki or other distant parts of Lagos during a short international-airport layover. Attractions such as Lekki Conservation Centre are interesting, but the distance and traffic make them much better suited to a dedicated Lagos day rather than a quick airport stop.
A simple airport stop
If your main objective is “I have a few hours at MMIA and want good food plus something pleasant to do”, I’d choose:
Short layover: Stay at the airport → have a meal at De Bull or Abibiz → relax at the terminal.
Around 4 hours: Airport-area restaurant → Jhalobia Botanical Garden → return to MMIA.
Around 6+ hours: Restaurant in Ikeja → JJT Park or another Ikeja attraction → return to the airport with plenty of time.
One important point is that airport security, check-in and immigration requirements can consume more time than expected, particularly for an international departure. If you’re actually flying out of MMIA, I’d be conservative about leaving the airport and aim to return well before your airline’s check-in deadline.

Dar es Salaam Airport Food
If you are travelling through Terminal 3, Dar es Salaam airport’s current terminal for international flights, you do not have any choice other than Bao Café for food before you check in or upon arrival.
Once you check in, though, you have a couple of more eateries on the inside as well as two VIP/Buisness Class lounges (that you can also pay for even if you are not travelling in those classes).
Terminal 2, which now serves domestic and regional scheduled flights, has better food offerings outside the terminal but not such great offerings after check-in.
In my experience of travelling through Dar es Salaam airport, you will find something to eat at the airport, but there are no great culinary offerings there.
