Nice and Lovely Carrot Lotion Review 2026 & More

Nice and Lovely Carrot Lotion Reviews

Nice and Lovely Carrot Lotion Reviews

Nice & Lovely Carrot Lotion is an affordable body moisturiser from the Kenyan beauty brand Nice & Lovely.

It is formulated with carrot oil and other moisturising ingredients and is marketed as a product that helps soften the skin, improve its appearance and protect it against dryness.

The lotion is worth considering if you want an inexpensive everyday moisturiser.

However, there are some differences in customer experiences, particularly concerning its texture, scent and suitability for sensitive skin.

Nice and Lovely Carrot Lotion Review Section 1. What Is Nice & Lovely Carrot Lotion?

Nice & Lovely Carrot Lotion is a body lotion made for everyday skincare. Its formulation is advertised as containing:

  • Carrot oil or carrot extract.
  • Glycerine.
  • Vitamin E.
  • Mineral oil and other moisturising ingredients.
  • Sunscreen protection, according to some product descriptions.

Carrot-derived ingredients contain carotenoids, including beta-carotene.

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, while glycerine is a humectant that helps attract water to the skin.

These ingredients make the lotion suitable for people looking for basic moisturising benefits rather than an elaborate skincare treatment.

Nice and Lovely Carrot Lotion Review Section 2. Nice & Lovely Carrot Lotion Customer Reviews

Customer feedback is generally favourable, although not everyone has the same experience.

On Jumia Kenya, the 360ml version has a rating of 4.4 out of 5 from 45 verified ratings.

The 180ml version also has a 4.4 rating, based on 27 verified ratings in the listing examined.

Here is a closer look at the feedback.

Positive reviews for this Nie and Lovely Product

Several customers appreciate the lotion’s moisturising properties.

Some of the comments include:

  • Good moisturising effect: One customer described the lotion as moisturising and said it left the skin feeling moist.
  • Pleasant fragrance: Another customer particularly liked its scent, describing it as one of the product’s best features.
  • Satisfactory everyday use: Other customers expressed general satisfaction with the product and its performance.

The fragrance and moisturising effect appear to be two of the product’s appealing qualities.

Negative reviews

There are also some less favourable experiences.

  • Watery consistency: One customer felt that the lotion was too watery.
  • Skin irritation: A customer who purchased the 180ml version reported experiencing rashes after applying it to the face.
  • Individual differences: Not everyone appears equally satisfied with the product’s texture and fragrance.

The reported facial rash is worth taking seriously.

Although the lotion is intended primarily for body use, it is sensible to avoid applying it to the face if you are prone to irritation.

3. What Does Nice & Lovely Carrot Lotion Do for the Skin?

The product’s main purpose is moisturising. Its ingredients have several skincare functions.

Glycerine

Glycerine attracts water and helps maintain skin hydration.

It is particularly useful for people experiencing dry or tight skin.

Carrot Oil and Carrot Extract

Carrot-derived ingredients contribute to the product’s formulation and contain carotenoids.

They are commonly used in skincare products marketed for their nourishing and skin-conditioning properties.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps protect against oxidative damage.

It is also commonly included in moisturising skincare formulations.

Mineral Oil

Mineral oil helps reduce water loss from the skin by forming a protective layer on its surface.

Does It Lighten the Skin?

There is insufficient evidence to conclude that Nice & Lovely Carrot Lotion is an effective skin-lightening product.

Although carrot ingredients are sometimes associated with glowing skin and improved complexion, moisturising the skin and lightening its natural pigmentation are two different things.

Which Nice & Lovely Lotion Is the Best?

If popularity is anything to go by, then the best nice and lovely lotion according to Jumia Uganda is Nice and Lovely Cocoa Butter lotion.

Nice and Lovely Sunscreen Protection

Nice & Lovely products, including some of its body lotions, are marketed with sunscreen protection.

This is an important feature in a skincare product, particularly in East African countries such as Kenya and Tanzania, where exposure to strong sunlight is common.

However, there is an important distinction between a body lotion that contains sunscreen ingredients and a dedicated sunscreen that has been tested and labelled with a specific Sun Protection Factor (SPF).

The key question is how much protection the Nice & Lovely lotion actually provides, rather than simply whether it contains sunscreen.

1. Which Lotions From the Nice & Lovely Brand Advertise Sunscreen Protection?

Several products in the range are marketed with sunscreen or skin-protection claims.

ProductAdvertised features
Nice & Lovely Carrot LotionCarrot oil, glycerine, vitamin E and sunscreen
Nice & Lovely Lanolin LotionLanolin, natural oils and sunscreen
Nice & Lovely Cocoa Butter LotionCocoa butter, shea butter and sunscreen

The Carrot Lotion is specifically advertised as containing sunscreen, including in its 360ml product listing.

2. What Does Sunscreen Protection Mean?

To understand the claims, it helps to distinguish between two types of ultraviolet radiation.

UVB rays

  • Cause sunburn.
  • Contribute to skin damage.
  • Are primarily measured by the SPF rating.

UVA rays

  • Penetrate more deeply into the skin.
  • Contribute to premature skin ageing.
  • Play a role in pigmentation and long-term skin damage.

A sunscreen offering broad-spectrum protection helps protect against both UVA and UVB radiation.

3. What SPF does Nice & Lovely provide?

SPF not established from available product information

This is where I would be cautious.

Although Nice & Lovely Carrot Lotion is advertised as containing sunscreen, the product descriptions I could verify do not specify an SPF rating.

I would therefore not assign it an SPF 15, SPF 20, SPF 30 or any other figure.

The presence of sunscreen in a product description does not tell us how much protection it provides.

For meaningful sun protection, you want a product with:

  • A clearly stated SPF.
  • Broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection.
  • Application instructions.
  • Reapplication instructions.

4. Can Nice & Lovely lotion replace ordinary sunscreen?

I would not recommend relying on it as your only sunscreen unless its packaging confirms an adequate SPF and broad-spectrum protection.

For everyday outdoor use, the World Health Organization recommends broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher.

The American Academy of Dermatology also recommends SPF 30 or higher, preferably water-resistant.

5. How should you protect your skin in Tanzania?

Tanzania’s proximity to the equator makes sun protection particularly relevant.

A sensible routine would be:

  1. Apply your normal body moisturiser after bathing.
  2. Apply a dedicated SPF 30 or SPF 50 broad-spectrum sunscreen to exposed skin.
  3. Reapply sunscreen approximately every two hours when outdoors.
  4. Reapply after swimming or heavy sweating.
  5. Use clothing, hats and shade to reduce direct exposure.

Sunscreen should be applied generously.

Applying too little can substantially reduce the protection achieved.

6. My Assessment of Nice & Lovely’s Sunscreen Claims

I would distinguish between two things:

  • Moisturising benefit: Nice & Lovely lotions are marketed as everyday moisturisers, with ingredients such as glycerine, mineral oil and carrot extract in the Carrot Lotion.
  • Sun protection benefit: The brand advertises sunscreen in some formulations, but the actual SPF and UVA protection need to be established from the packaging.

I would not dismiss the sunscreen claim, but I would not treat it as proof of adequate sun protection either.

  1. Hey Biche,

I must say you sometimes write about the most unthought-of things but anyway who said that is a bad thing ? it’s good to be different and creative too.

Tell me all about it. I love the Nice & Lovely
Petroleum Jelly too. I stumbled across it when
i was went out shopping for my usual body oil
and could not find it. I had stopped by 2 stores
and could not find the one i wanted.
I was not willing to go to yet another to get disappointed, so i started looking for another options. I walked the aisle till i saw this Can with a pink sticker & lid.
(I think the pink thing is a gals thing.) Lol !
even better than the pink colour was it’s smell. Waaaa !
so i decided to try it. I was however a bit worried that it
would be too heavy on my skin but that was not the case.
It’s nice and light and smells nice. I have introduced it to my sister who likes it too. I think a couple of people use it too cause i can’t seem to get the one without the baby picture sometimes

    Am sold completely.

It is such a lovely product to moisturize your skin. I would recommend it to anyone to anytime.. Cheers !

    1. Hehehe Bobo,

Yes, Nice & Lovely PJ is an un-thought of thing, but from your comment, I know you can fully understand why I thought it was worth writing about! 🙂

You mentioned a body oil you were using before, which one was that (random girl talk)? Yes, I agree that the pink label is quite effective for us gals – it definitely works for me- though there is a blue one for those not so keen on pink.

Thanks for your feedback. As you can see, you are the lone voice (for now) that could relate to the post. Hehehehe…

I hope you are having a good weekend.

  2. I highly recommend Nivea Jelly with Vitamin E for lipgloss/chapstick. I carry one of the mini-tubs in my purse 24/7. I’ve only used it as a lotion at night on my hands and feet. How much do you apply as a regular lotion?

    1. Hi Em,

By Nivea Jelly, do you mean the Petroleum Jelly sold in a Vaseline Petroleum Jelly looking tub with a blue top? If so I’ve used that too, and it’s pretty good. What are your reasons for recommending it particularly?

I hear it’s really good to put petroleum jelly on your hands and feet, while you sleep. I’ve never tried it (though I should for my feet). Do you notice a marked difference in the texture of your hands and feet after doing this?

When I use petroleum jelly as regular lotion, I simply rub some on my hands and then rub it on my body (I am not sure how to quantify that). I don’t put a very thick layer on except if I am in very dry weather, like during winter abroad. In sunnier places like, Mombasa and Dar es Salaam, I keep the layer as light as possible! Though I’ve noticed recently that petroleum jelly, in hot humid weather, makes me sweat less than liquid lotion. That was surprising to me. Have I answered your question?

      B.

  3. I love petroleum jelly, I use it every night, but have been on valon. I guess I developed a bad attitude because Nice and Lovely hair products aren’t all that.

I’ll try some, now that you’ve used it for 3 years. BTW, could you do a review on lotions and lingerie shops in Nairobi?

    1. Hi Again Pinkmemoirs,

Valon? Yes, I’ve used that before though I find it’s a little light. I totally understand your bias towards Nice & Lovely, though I was surprised to find that their hair cholesterol treatment (which I use as conditioner at times) is not half bad. Which of their hair products have you had bad experiences with?

About lotions and lingerie shops in Nairobi, request noted. I am not currently in Nairobi though, so you’ll have to wait a bit for that. I am not sure what kind of lotions you are interested in, but when it comes to lingerie shops, check out Secrets at Sarit Centre (expensive) or any of the Woolworths (better value for money). There’s a pretty looking lingerie store at Yaya Centre though I don’t know much more than that the items in their display always catch my attention. In my experience, going to places like 4u2, which sell less expensive lingerie, also means you compromise on the quality of the lingerie you are getting. Might anyone else have anything to add on the subject?

Let me know what you think of the Nice & Lovely petroleum jelly once you’ve tried it.

      Biche

  4. Hi Biche,

Yes that’s exactly the jelly I was referring to. I like it because it doesn’t feel as thick and sticky as normal Vaseline can if I wear it overnight. And yes I do notice a huge difference in the softness of my hands and feet, especially after a few nights of treatment. Speaking of skin issues, is there a dermatologist on the third floor YaYa? I’ve heard there is but I don’t remember if I heard that before or after the major YaYa transformation.

    Thanks!
    Em

    1. Hi Em,

Yes, the Nivea Jelly is lighter than Vaseline. Thanks for sharing that!

About the dermatologist at Yaya, there is indeed a dermatologist on Yaya’s 3rd floor called Dr. Pancholi. I’ve never used him or her myself, but I figured that out from the Yaya Centre Website. The last time I needed to go to a dermatologist, I went to Dr. Bansil in the Upper Hill Medical Centre, and I recommend him highly (if you are shopping around for a dermatologist). He was affordable and extremely professional. Above of all, he got rid of a skin condition that I had been battling for over 10 years (I had simply learned to live with it!). If you would like to find out more, the phone numbers to his office are 2721576/2720147.

Thanks for coming back to continue the conversation about petroleum jellies. Good luck with finding a good dermatologist!

      Biche

  5. Thanks for the link and the phone number Biche! I’m quite particular about my skin. Your obsession with petroleum jelly is right up my alley!
