KFC Terminal 3 – Julius Nyerere International Airport Dar es Salaam Reviews

Here’s a summary of what travellers are saying about the KFC Terminal 3 – Julius Nyerere International Airport at Julius Nyerere International Airport (Terminal 3) in Dar es Salaam:

What people like about the KFC Airport Dar es Salaam Branch

  • The location is convenient. Several reviews highlight that the airport’s newer Terminal 3 is modern, clean and comfortable, so it makes sense that the KFC outlet benefits from those surroundings.
  • As part of a global chain, KFC provides familiar fast-food comfort which is appreciated by international travellers in an airport setting where options may be limited.
  • Some online listings indicate that the KFC outlet is open 24/7 or operates long hours, which is a big plus for early-morning or late-night flights.

What People Mention As Drawbacks

  • A number of users mention that food-prices (in the airport context) are relatively high, which is not unusual for airport dining but still worth noting.
  • Because Terminal 3 is still seen by some as having limited dining and shopping options, the KFC sometimes receives more traffic than it might elsewhere, which can affect wait time or seating availability. For example: “Here it is such great experience … the airport is very clean … but there are not many benches here so it’s tricky sometimes to find a place to sit.”
  • Some travellers note variability in service or food quality, especially during busy hours.
  • One review of the terminal generally (not just KFC) suggests that while it’s new and clean, the number of shops/restaurants is still low: “Also, KFC is currently the only eating option.”

My Overall Take

If you land or depart from Terminal 3 and are looking for a quick, familiar meal, this KFC location is a reliable choice. It stands out in the terminal’s dining options. If you have time, you might want to allow a few extra minutes in case of queueing or limited seating. Also be ready for typical airport pricing.

  1. The Dar es Salaam Airport is one challenge but the traffic volume to reach the airport is incredible. One needs to allow lots of extra time to reach the airport from the city especially during the morning and evening rush times.

  2. I arrive via Qatar to Dar Es Salaam at midnight, then have a 5:00 a.m flight on Precision Air to Arusha. Is there some place I can stay for the time between arrival and my departure? Is the International terminal open for 24 hours? Traveling alone and a little nervous.

    1. Hi Sandra,

Welcome to Chick About Town! Don’t worry about travelling alone in Tanzania, it is quite safe though language might be a problem at times outside places where foreigners are expected.

To answer your questions: 1) Yes, the international terminal is open 24 hours so you can stay there while you wait for your connecting flight, and 2) there are a few hotels very close to the airport though nothing very fancy.

I would recommend Triniti Airport Hotel. They are a reputable long-term brand in Dar es Salaam so they won’t let you down.

You would only get to stay there a short time, though, because you probably won’t leave the airport before 1 a.m. and would have to be back at the airport to check in for your connecting flight by 4 a.m.

Still, the hotel I am recommending is only an 8-minute drive away (be sure to use an airport taxi for safety), so it might be worth it depending on your travel style.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

      Biche
