When you think of Tanzania’s protected areas, what do you think of? The Serengeti, Ngorongoro, perhaps Kilimanjaro National Park, where the famous Mt. Kilimanjaro is? Whatever the case, I am pretty sure you don’t think of Tarangire National Park, unless of course you are the father of an ex-colleague who, after visiting several Tanzanian protected areas, confidently told me at a cocktail party one day that his favourite nature reserve in Tanzania was Tarangire National Park. I was taken aback by his statement—that is not at all the answer I was expecting—but as I recalled my own experience at Tarangire … Continue reading The Hidden Gem That is Tarangire National Park
Hi, you. How are you today? I hope you are well. Today, let’s get a little visual. I’d like to take you through a picture show. A picture show of what? The year was 2008. Finally, I was achieving a long-held childhood dream: I had officially moved to Uganda. Nothing could contain the contentedness I felt inside. Finally, I lived in the place that I affectionately call “the home of my heart.” It was not a period of my life without uncertainties, but finally I had done it! The cologne, Versace Eros, is according to its makers a fragrance that represents “sublime masculinity through a luminous aura with an intense, vibrant and glowing freshness obtained … Continue reading What’s Everyone Buying? As I was moving to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania many years ago, I remember reading in The Rough Guide to Tanzania that Dar es Salaam was “the best place in East Africa for catching live music”. Many years later, I can’t quite say whether or not I agree with that statement, but what I do know is that there are ample opportunities in Dar es Salaam to listen to good live music. One such opportunity is Wikiendi LIVE which happens every couple of months at the Nafasi Art Space in Mikocheni. Before I tell you what I enjoy about Wikiendi … Continue reading Weekend Cultural Event: Wikiendi Live is Back!
