Best Area to Stay In Zanzibar
If what interests you in Zanzibar is its history and culture, then the best place to stay in Zanzibar is Stone Town.
If you are more interested in beautiful beaches in Zanzibar, then you will not experience that in Stone Town but will instead have to go elsewhere on the island such as Zanzibar’s north coast (think Nungwi or Kendwa) or its east coast (e.g., Matemwe).
Zanzibar’s north coast is both a mix of beautiful beaches and lots to do, such as beautiful restaurants and interesting nightlife, while Zanzibar’s east coast also has beautiful beaches but is a lot less touristy and is more quiet.
Zanzibar’s east coast is also popular for a variety of water activities such as kite surfing.

Thank you, Biche, for this list. My husband and I decided to stay at Mizingani Seafront Hotel and we greatly enjoyed the views from the dining room terrace. The breakfast buffet was fantastic! The room was spacious and comfortable, and the service was very personable.
The hotel was also very well placed relative to the ferry, Stone Town, and Forodhani Gardens, all of which were in walking distance of about 5 to 15 minutes.
Once more thanks for the recommendation!
My pleasure, Mrs. Rwega. Thanks for the feedback! 😉
