This year, the award-winning movie Selma will officially open the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) 2015 on July 18. Selma is a historical drama directed by Ava DuVernay and written by Paul Webb. The movie tells the story of the 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches. James Bevel, Hosea Williams, Martin Luther King, Jr. and John Lewis led these marches. The Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches forever altered history.
